Legacy Society

Make Lifesaving Part of Your Legacy

By planning a future gift to PAWS through your will, trust or other financial plan, your lasting impact will be felt everywhere: every family made complete with a newly adopted pet, every ailing animal nursed back to health, every struggling pet owner who finds a lifeline at our clinic, every litter of orphaned kittens surviving against the odds, and every dog and cat rescued from danger.

With your support, we will continue to transform Philadelphia.

In the 13 years since we began rescuing homeless pets and preventing others from entering shelters in the first place, shelter admissions have been cut nearly in half and the survival rate has climbed from 11% to 86%. Philadelphia is now on the brink of becoming one of the largest no-kill cities in the United States. As our goal draws closer, we are also planning ahead for the task of sustaining it indefinitely. Make this extraordinary achievement a part of your future plans.

PAWS' Legacy Society

Through our Legacy Society, we celebrate and honor visionary donors who want to help PAWS secure a future where every savable pet in Philadelphia is guaranteed a home.

Becoming a member only requires informing us of your intentions. If you have already included PAWS in a bequest or other planned gift, we hope you will let us know. Your willingness to be listed as a member of PAWS’ Legacy Society encourages others to follow your example. We acknowledge and respect those who wish to remain anonymous, but we urge you to let us know of your plans on a confidential basis, as it enables PAWS to plan for the future.

To welcome you as a member of our Legacy Society, we gratefully offer a variety of benefits:

  • The knowledge that your gift will provide crucial funding where we need it most.
  • Bi-annual insider updates from the Executive Director, including the Annual PAWS Impact Report.
  • Invitations to special events and tours, including free or specially priced tickets.
  • Recognition in PAWS’ bi-annual insider updates (if you wish).
  • Your personal PAWS contact accessible by phone or email.
  • Invitation to the annual Legacy Society members-only Lunch and Learn.

How to Leave a Gift

To make a bequest to PAWS, you may use the following language.
I give, devise and bequeath to the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, a non-profit corporation in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with its principal offices at 100 N. 2nd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106, (the sum of $____) (all or ____% of my residual estate) to be used for its general purposes.

PAWS’ Federal Tax ID is: 26-3862631.

Ways to give include:

  • Specific Bequest: Name PAWS the beneficiary of a 401(k), IRA, marketable securities, or cash.
  • Residuary Bequest: Designate PAWS to receive all or a portion of the remainder of your estate once all specific bequests (to family and friends) have been satisfied.
  • Contingent Bequest: You may choose to designate PAWS to receive assets in case your primary beneficiaries (family and friends) predecease you.

Donations to PAWS, a 501(c)3 organization, are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Your attorney, estate planner, or tax professional can advise you on the tax benefits and savings associated with making a bequest to PAWS.
