Emergency Surgery for Banana Nut Muffin

When Banana Nut Muffin needed emergency surgery during our broken AC crisis, it was all hands on deck to make sure he got the care he needed!⠀

This little guy was brought to our Grays Ferry clinic for persistent vomiting in his foster home. Our vets identified a possible foreign body obstruction, which required immediate surgery. ⠀

The broken AC at Grays Ferry meant that our surgery suite was out of commission, so we rushed this baby to our Northeast clinic, where other members of our vet team were waiting to operate. Sure enough, they found two large pieces of material in his GI tract, which would have been deadly had they not been removed.⠀

Staff stayed late to monitor Banana’s recovery, and a vet tech took him home overnight to make sure all was well. Banana Nut Muffin is already on the mend, and back to being his mischievous and snuggly self. His story is a great reminder that overly-curious puppies and kittens are especially likely to ingest items that aren’t meant for them!⠀

Our biggest thanks goes to the many staff members who went above and beyond for this tiny friend, and to the amazing supporters who’ve given during an especially difficult week to ensure our lifesaving efforts can continue!
