Our love for our pets is as unique as each animal we welcome into our lives, which is why PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society) is proud to announce its Perfectly Impurrfect adoption promotion, kicking off on Thursday, July 11 and running through Thursday, July 25. With shelter intake alarmingly high, loving adoptive homes create needed space for other animals whose lives depend on it. During Perfectly Impurrfect, adopters can name their own adoption fee for cats and dogs included in the promotion. When they take their new pet home, PAWS will be able to rescue another animal in its place.

PAWS saves thousands of exceptional animals each year who would otherwise face homelessness and risk euthanasia. Due to their individual needs, many of these animals face longer shelter stays. They may have a simple daily medication routine, manageable age-related conditions, preferences for being the only pet, or socialization needs. The Perfectly Impurrfect adoption promotion aims to celebrate these cats and dogs, match them with the right adopters, and create space for more animals who are waiting for the same chance.

The need is extremely urgent, so PAWS is asking animal lovers throughout the region to consider expanding their family by adopting now. Wonderful dogs like Icy (pictured below) are waiting. A 9-year-old mixed breed, Icy was found as a stray. Despite having arthritis and poor hearing, Icy enjoys playtime and gentle walks with her foster parent and wins the hearts of everyone she meets. Her needs, including a special diet and a home environment without many stairs, are easily managed.

“So many amazing pets get overlooked simply because they might need a little extra care or have a special personality preference,” says TammyMiller, PAWS’ foster manager. “It’s incredibly rewarding to open your home to a pet with unique needs—they’re so grateful for you. And as we all know, nobody is perfect!”
