NAME-YOUR-FEE ADOPTION EVENT: Help us clear our Old City Adoption Center!

Following the parking structure emergency next door to our Grays Ferry location on Wednesday, April 8, we’re grateful to share that all PAWS staff, volunteers, animals, and owned pets in our care are safe and accounted for. Late last night, the City’s Office of Emergency Management advised us to evacuate all animals from Grays Ferry due to increasing structural instability.
In the middle of the night, staff, volunteers, and fosters mobilized in heroic fashion to quickly transport dozens of cats and dogs to safety. Many of those cats are now at our Old City Adoption Center, where they’re beginning to settle in after an understandably frightening and incredibly stressful 24 hours.
Many of you have graciously reached out asking how you can help. If you’ve been thinking about adopting, now is the moment.
The most meaningful way to support PAWS right now is by welcoming a cat into your home. To make that possible, we’re offering name your fee adoptions all weekend at our Old City Adoption Center. Every adoption helps relieve overcrowding and ensures we can reduce the stress of the animals in our care, and continue our lifesaving work without interruption.
Right now, dozens of cats are ready to meet you – from curious explorers and social butterflies to laid-back loungers and gentle senior companions. Our adoption team will be fully staffed all weekend, ready to work one-on-one with you to find the right match for your home, lifestyle, and family.
Please stop by PAWS’ Old City Adoption Center at 2nd and Arch this weekend to help move our cats into loving homes so we can save lives together. To help expedite the process, we encourage those interested to submit an adoption application prior to visiting at phillypaws.org/adopt. Our hours are:
- Friday: 12:00PM – 6:00PM
- Saturday: 11:00AM – 6:00PM
- Sunday: 11:00AM – 5:00PM
Looking to help but not able to adopt right now? You can still make a meaningful impact by contributing to the care of our animals as they wait for loving homes.
In a moment that’s been so difficult, you can be part of a happy ending. Thank you for supporting PAWS and the animals who depend on us.
