For many of us, pets are family — offering comfort, companionship, and unconditional love through life’s hardest moments. For one PAWS supporter, Eric, that bond became even more clear during an incredibly difficult chapter of his life.

After experiencing epileptic seizures, breaking his collarbone, undergoing multiple surgeries, and becoming temporarily unable to work or care for himself independently, Eric faced an impossible decision: surrendering his beloved cat, Kitty, to PAWS. Devastated and uncertain of what the future would hold, he said goodbye to Kitty in hopes that PAWS would help find a new family to care for him.

After several months, Eric began to recover physically, but the absence of Kitty became overwhelming. Hoping for even the smallest bit of good news, Eric reached back out to ask if Kitty was safe and doing well. As it turned out, Kitty was thriving in a loving foster home — and in an incredible full-circle moment, PAWS was able to reunite Kitty and Eric that very same week! Kitty’s foster family had even saved his favorite stuffed hot dog toy, carefully returning it alongside Kitty when he came home.

Eric shared that he is forever grateful to Kitty’s foster family and to PAWS for helping reunite them after such a difficult chapter in his life. Today, Kitty is back where he belongs, offering the same comfort and companionship that Eric missed so deeply while recovering.
