Dock Street Brewery and PAWS Reunite for Third Release of Found Friends IPA
Crack open a cold one for a great cause! Dock Street Brewery is bringing back its fan-favorite Found Friends IPA for a third year, a delectable hazy IPA crafted to support PAWS. This juicy, hop-forward beer features vibrant New Zealand and American hops, and for every four-pack sold, $1 is donated to PAWS to help fulfill their mission: making Philadelphia a place where every savable pet is guaranteed a home and every pet owner has the support and resources they need to keep their family whole.

This year’s Found Friends also features a new label, designed by Joseph Hasenauer, a Philadelphia-based art director, designer, photographer, and animal lover, adding an exciting new visual element to this beloved brew.
Proceeds from Found Friends IPA benefit cats like Rascal (pictured below) and support PAWS’ efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome Philadelphia’s most vulnerable animals by providing medical care, enrichment, foster placement, and adoption. PAWS rescued Rascal from the city’s animal control shelter after she was found as a stray with a litter of newborn kittens. PAWS placed them into an experienced foster home where they received the crucial safety and socialization they needed to grow big enough to be spayed/neutered. Her kittens have been adopted, and now Rascal is ready to find a family of her own who will appreciate her mix of affection and sass. The partnership between Dock Street and PAWS offers Philadelphians the chance to celebrate rescued pets like Rascal, enjoy a limited-edition craft beer, and help save lives — one delicious sip at a time.

Now that all her kittens have been adopted, Rascal is ready to find a new family of her own! This social sweetheart loves the company of other cats and would thrive in a home with feline friends.
Dock Street Brewery South invites members of the press to join them and PAWS staff for a special canning event on Monday, June 30 at 10:30am 2118 Washington Avenue. Attendees will get an insider’s look at the final step of the brewing process and learn more about the partnership between Dock Street Brewery and PAWS, a collaboration that spans many years. Best of all, an adoptable PAWS dog will be on hand to observe the transfer of the final product from the serving tank to the canning line.
The public is invited to attend the Found Friends launch party on Tuesday, July 1 from 5–8pm at Dock Street Brewery South. This dog-friendly event will feature a PAWS information table, a raffle of Dock Street’s Found Friends IPA and PAWS merchandise, and a display of this year’s limited-edition can design. Attendees can enjoy Found Friends IPA on tap, purchase cans to take home, and, weather permitting, let their pups cool off in a doggie pool. Beer lovers can also catch a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the brewing process with a tour led by Dock Street’s Head Brewer and PAWS foster, Mark Russell. Dock Street Brewery has been a proud PAWS partner since 2019 when Lauren Hanak joined the PAWS team and introduced her husband, Mark Russell, Dock Street’s Head Brewer, to the cause. The couple has fostered over 90 PAWS cats (including Rascal, featured above) and is passionate about combining their love for beer with their dedication to ending pet homelessness. Dock Street’s staff, many of whom have adopted pets of their own, also share a deep love for animals. Over the years, Dock Street has supported countless PAWS initiatives, benefiting Philadelphia’s pets and the people who love them.
“Found Friends is one of our favorite beers to brew at Dock Street. It’s more than just a good excuse to brew a great beer, it’s a way for us to support an organization that’s made a real difference in our community and in the lives of many of our team members and their pets,” says Russell. “It’s a celebration of the love we share with our pets and our appreciation for the people who care for them.”
“The partnership between PAWS and Dock Street demonstrates the incredible impact businesses can have when they support causes they care about,” says Melissa Levy, PAWS’ executive director. “Dock Street’s unwavering support provides a beacon of hope for animals in need. We’re excited about the new Found Friends IPA label, which features many of the pets whose lives we’ve been able to save together. The re-release of Found Friends is a proud and thrilling moment for us all!”
