Community update and gratitdue

Our hearts are full after an incredible weekend of adoptions and community support. As we continue to modify our lifesaving operations following the evacuation and closure of our Grays Ferry location, we’d like to share some updates and take a moment to express our gratitude.
PAWS’ Grays Ferry clinic remains closed until further notice as work continues at the site next door. As of this morning, that includes ongoing demolition of the damaged structure, followed by site investigations and cleanup — steps that need to happen before we can safely access our building again. We’re staying in close contact with the City as we learn more and will keep you posted as we have updates to share. Our hearts remain with the families of all those affected by this terrible tragedy.
In the meantime, we’d like to reiterate how grateful we are for the outpouring of support we’ve received from the community. So many of you have reached out and stepped up in ways that mean the world to us, from volunteers transporting pets, to fosters opening their homes, to adopters welcoming new family members at a time when it’s needed most — not to mention the PAWS staff members who’ve continued to go above and beyond, including our adoption team who helped so many pets find loving homes at our Old City Adoption Center this weekend!
We’re thrilled to share that 7 cats went into foster care and 17 cats were adopted! A few of those very happy adoptions include:
– Andre, who was in our care for nearly 600 days, has finally found his home — with a new human little sister and parents who adore him!
– Senior guy Paw Paw, who was adopted by a big family where he’ll have tons of space and attention!
– Subaru, who we know is already giving his new older kitty sister a run for her money!
In addition to the cats remaining at our Old City and PetSmart Adoption locations, many more cats and dogs are waiting for love in PAWS foster homes. Visit our adoptions page to see who’s waiting!
We’ll continue to share updates on the status of our Grays Ferry clinic as we have them. In the meantime, if your pet needs care and you’re able to travel to our Northeast location, please email gfclinic@phillypaws.org.
