Just yesterday, this little one was found in a basement without her mother, crying and suffering from an open wound on her shoulder that was starting to become infected.

Luckily, she arrived at the city shelter just as we were loading up our rescue van. When staff alerted us to Chomp’s urgent need for medical care, we were ready to welcome her thanks to supporters like you.

Our medical team immediately got to work, assessing her wound, cleaning and clipping the area, and giving her lots of comfort and love. She’s now healing in a foster home with our very own Dr. Leslee, who was the one to help her when she arrived!

As some of the most fragile animals we rescue, kittens often require above-and-beyond care and medical treatment due to illness, injury, or failure to thrive. Because the need is so great, all gifts to our Kitten Care Fund are being generously matched by the Tringali Family, up to $5,000!

Urgent: fragile babies need foster homes ASAP! These little ones were orphaned at just 4 weeks old, and we’re very worried about their health if they stay at the shelter. They’re barely big enough to eat on their own, and are currently isolated in our ringworm ward after testing positive for this mild but persistent skin infection.

With how young and vulnerable they are, they need care and monitoring in a home environment to ensure they’re eating and growing as they should be, and every day they spend at the shelter puts their health at risk of taking a dangerous turn.

We’re especially worried about Miniver, who’s very lonely and desperate for love after being separated from his siblings. They missed their mother so much they were trying to nurse on him, which led to him developing a wound that will need extra care and monitoring 🥺

These babies have already been through a lot in their short lives, but you could be the one to change it all for them! ⁠⁠⁠Some ringworm fast facts:⁠⁠⁠⁠

🔹 It’s not a worm — it’s a fungal infection of the skin that usually shows up as small patches of hair loss in pets⁠⁠.⁠⁠

🔹 It’s a mild infection, but contagious to people and pets, so a separate room for fosters is the best way to prevent it from spreading during treatment.

🔹 It usually takes 4-8 weeks to clear up (and most of these babies are already a few weeks into their treatment)!

⁠ 🔹 We have twice weekly “dip days” at our Grays Ferry clinics for ringworm fosters/adopters to drop their kitties off for medicated baths — no need to do it at home! ...

Restock needed on aisle 7! Kitten season has barely started and litters are already flooding in. We’re working to get them rescued, check them in, and match them with foster homes, but our kitten supplies are still woefully understocked for the busy months ahead.

We go through an extraordinary amount of wet food, formula, and other supplies to keep our little ones comfortable and nourished, and we need your help to prepare!

This very sweet boy is Mr. Owl, and we would do anything for him 😭 He’s a little worse for wear after living as a stray for most of his life, and is looking for a foster home where he can recuperate and get ready for his next chapter. In addition to fighting a kitty cold, he’s recovering from eyelid surgery and is also waiting on much-needed dental surgery once he’s well enough.

Even though he’s a bit of a nervous guy at the shelter, Mr. Owl is very grateful for kindness and affection ♥️ At four years old, he’s likely not gotten to enjoy much pampering, and deserves to finally know how it feels to wake up every day feeling safe and loved.
