We rescue animals, primarily from the city shelter, almost daily with a focus on the most vulnerable: adult dogs, kittens, cats recovering from illnesses, and small animals. Once safe at PAWS, they receive everything they need to become ready for adoption, then are matched with loving homes.

178,607 volunteer hours served

PAWS’ dedicated and caring volunteers are essential in every aspect of our lifesaving efforts.

411,301 clinic patients served

Our low-cost Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinics prevent pet homelessness and provide a needed resource in our community, enabling loving pet owners to care for and keep their dogs and cats as family.

166,081 spay/neuters performed

PAWS provides low-cost spay/neuter surgery for owned pets, rescues and community cats to prevent the birth of unwanted litters. Our efforts are working: since our clinics opened their doors, the number of homeless animals entering Philadelphia’s city shelter has declined year over year.

Mr. Cuddles proves you can be a baby at any age! This sweet senior really lives up to his name, and would be thrilled to find a foster home where he can enjoy some love while we learn more about his medical needs work to assess his overall health. He’s around 13 years old, and arrived with a severe case of dental disease as well as a very distended tummy that may be a symptom of an untreated medical condition. Our team is working to learn more about his health with bloodwork, x-rays, and other diagnostics, so he just needs someone who can take him to a few appointments at our Grays Ferry clinic in the next couple of weeks. Mr. Cuddles loves people, and is quick to purr and lean in for pets when he meets you. He’s been such a trooper while living at our clinic, but he’d be very grateful to enjoy the comforts of home (ideally with some cozy lap snuggles)! Be a Tooth Fairy, save a life: gifts are doubled NOW for PAWS’ Tooth Fairy Fund! Every year, hundreds of pets like Jessica arrive at shelters with debilitating dental disease that places them at risk of euthanasia. Often, the only barrier between life and death for these animals is a rescue organization’s ability to afford costly dental surgery. With your help, we have an incredible opportunity to provide this critical care and save more lives than ever before. Through Friday, March 13, a group of generous donors is matching all gifts to the Tooth Fairy Fund, up to $60,000! That means your donation will go TWICE as far to provide a healthy mouth and a new life for pets who are counting on us. Jessica lost her home when her owner was evicted just before the holidays. She suffered from advanced dental disease, and needed treatment for a respiratory illness she’d caught at the city shelter. Thanks to PAWS’ Tooth Fairy Fund supporters, PAWS had the resources to commit to her care and provide her with antibiotics, dental x-rays, and the surgery she needed to feel better and heal. Jessica was matched with an experienced foster family who supported her before and after her surgery, and she showed more of her playful, affectionate spirit every day. Now, Jessica is enjoying a joyful, pain-free life with an adoptive family (and doggy brother) who adores her — but countless animals just like her are depending on us for the lifesaving dental care they need. This is our most ambitious Tooth Fairy matching goal ever, and we have just 8 days to reach it.
