Celebrating a Record-Breaking Month of Adoptions

Feisty is one of the 359 pets with a reason to smile.

Our hard work is paying off: 359 PAWS pets found loving homes in the month of August, shattering our previous adoption record of 290 from October 2016 and surpassing last August’s numbers by 127 adoptions.

That’s not the only record we broke: these adoptions allowed PAWS to rescue 369 animals from area shelters last month, opening up lifesaving space for pets who were only just starting their journeys, and surpassing our previous record of 325 pets rescued in August of 2015.

Milestones like these are only possible because of the amazing staff, foster parents, volunteers, donors, and adopters supporting our mission. Every pet saved takes us one step closer to making Philadelphia a no-kill city!

Here are just a few of the pets who found their forever homes in August:

After growing big enough for adoption in a foster home, Shirley found her forever family.

Lupita went home with Napol and Kai as part of the Clear the Shelters event on August 19th.

Twiggy was found curled up in someone’s yard after a thunder storm, then found a home with a PAWS volunteer!

Becky was a long term shelter resident who found a home after going into foster care.

Lala was a long-term resident who needed an adopter to take her on leashed walks outside, and Tonya was happy to be that special someone!

After a weeks-long search, Twister finally found the perfect home to live out her golden years with adopters Kevin and Patrick.

With the help of her foster mom and Jackson Galaxy’s Cat Pawsitive Training program, shy Dove came out of her shell and found a home.
