PAWS is the city's largest rescue partner.

We are working to make Philadelphia a place where every healthy and treatable pet is guaranteed a home. We do so through rescue, foster care, adoption, and preventing pet homelessness in the first place by offering low-cost spay/neuter and basic vet care.

Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinics

Keeping pets and families together through low-cost basic veterinary services. Our clinics in Grays Ferry and the Northeast serve tens of thousands of pets every year whose caretakers may not afford care elsewhere.

39,564 animals saved to date

We rescue animals, primarily from the city shelter, almost daily with a focus on the most vulnerable: adult dogs, kittens, cats recovering from illnesses, and small animals. Once safe at PAWS, they receive everything they need to become ready for adoption, then are matched with loving homes.

178,607 volunteer hours served

PAWS’ dedicated and caring volunteers are essential in every aspect of our lifesaving efforts.

361,132 clinic patients served

Our low-cost Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinics prevent pet homelessness and provide a needed resource in our community, enabling loving pet owners to care for and keep their dogs and cats as family.

145,661 spay/neuters performed

PAWS provides low-cost spay/neuter surgery for owned pets, rescues and community cats to prevent the birth of unwanted litters. Our efforts are working: since our clinics opened their doors, the number of homeless animals entering Philadelphia’s city shelter has declined year over year.

PAWS' impact grows as our services expand & progress continues

By rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding loving adopters for homeless animals with nowhere else to go, and providing affordable vet care and other services so pets can stay in their homes where they are loved, PAWS provides a vital and growing safety net for Philadelphia's most vulnerable cats and dogs. Weighing in at a combined 45 pounds(!), Mickey & Jagger are looking for a foster home ASAP!

These sweet brothers lost their home when their family’s living situation changed, and they’re having a really hard time at the shelter. If you think Jagger (grey) looks like the heavier of the two, you are very correct: he clocked in at a whopping 30lbs, and urgently needs to lose weight so he can safely undergo anesthesia for some much-needed dental work.

In spite of being nervous and recently catching kitty colds, Mickey and Jagger are a very kind and affectionate duo once you give them some gentle pets to let them know you’re a friend. Unfortunately, they’re spending most of their day hiding in a box together when we’re not around, so we’d really love to get these boys into a home so they can come out of their shells and start their fitness journey in earnest!

Mickey and Jagger are about 4 years old and would prefer a single pet home with teens and up. If you’d like to help this friendly duo, email foster@phillypaws.org to learn more!

They’re cute, they’re cuddly, and they need your help! PAWS is seeking kittens fosters now and throughout kitten season during the spring and summer.

Foster care is where animal lovers like you volunteer to take home and care for a homeless pet (or pets) temporarily. Fosters are the reason we can save as many lives as we do, and they’re especially critical for young kittens who are too small and fragile to survive in the shelter.

Fostering can last from a couple weeks to a couple months, and our foster team can help make you a match depending on your schedule and comfort level. Right now, fosters are most needed for:
🐱Orphaned kittens
🐈‍⬛ Nursing moms with babies
❤️‍🩹Kittens with ringworm, shelter colds, or other medical needs
🍼Bottle feeders

By signing up to foster now, you can ensure we’ll have enough homes ready as kittens arrive in the coming weeks and months! All they need is a spare room and lots of love until they’re old enough for adoption, and we can provide supplies if needed. Please join us now: sign up through our #linkinbio today!

Ps. Can’t foster? You can still help save lives! Visit our bio link to send supplies for our kitten shower or make a gift to our Kitten Fund. All gifts are being matched this week by the Tringali family this week, up to $5000! You can also give via Venmo (username @phillypaws) or directly through Instagram.
